Do I need a Letter of Authority?
You only need a Letter of Authority (LOA) when the person managing your Stripe account isn't a director or registered office bearer. If they are, they verify directly and no letter is needed.
How to do it
- Download Stripe's Letter of Authority template.
- Copy it onto your organisation's letterhead.
- Have it signed by a director or office bearer who is a different person from the account representative.
- Date it within the last 12 months.
- Upload it when Stripe asks, along with the signer's ID.
Who signs
| If you're… | The LOA is signed by |
|---|---|
| An individual or sole proprietor | No LOA needed |
| A company | A Director or CEO listed on ACRA |
| A partnership or LLP | A partner or manager listed on ACRA |
| A charity, society or club | A registered office bearer |
Tip: the wrong signer is a common reason verification stops. See My Stripe setup is stuck.
